8 Weeks

Ugh.... not much change. Still sick every day. I have some good days where I am low on energy but I feel good, and rare days where I just feel miserable, most of the time I am just constantly uncomfortable. The baby is the size of a kidney bean, and I had a dream last night that it was a boy! So, we will see. My friend Amy does ultrasounds for a living and said that almost every time, the dad is right about the gender, and the mom is wrong. But Scott hasn't given me his "official" guess yet so no news on that front. I hear that I am about 6-8 weeks away from finding out, so we shall see. Sometimes you can catch boys early, but girls are tougher to confirm.

No belly yet, In fact I lost about four pounds and have gained back only two so far. It certainly doesn't like to be touched though so I have to wear really loose pants. Mostly because of the nausea. I haven't been getting out much at this stage anyway! Scott made a craving run to the store this week to grab microwave burritos, chicken nuggets and bagels. Who am I?? I haven't eaten most of this stuff since high school! So I eat like a junior high student right now. I do try to squeeze in fruits and veggies during the mid afternoon, when I am feeling good; my friend Stephanie made me a fabulous fruit smoothie today!

I also was introduced to the foot massage by my other Amy friend. We went to a place called Reflexology (right by Collections, for any locals) and had a 45 minute massage that included arms, shoulders, feet and legs. It smelled beautiful and was so comfortable. Super relaxing. Best idea ever, Amy!

So, the first trimester... not so fun! But I'm sure its worth it. Currently I am still having trouble believing I'm pregnant. I just think I have the worst flu of my life. Love you all!

7 Weeks!

Thanks for all your wonderful comments, guys! Yesterday was really terrible as far as morning sickness. I felt so horrible, and couldn't get into any position that helped. I was telling Scott that it seemed to be that 10 hour stretch of sleep that I do every night- the baby isn't getting enough food during those hours and so for 5 hours the next morning its like hell to pay trying to get enough calories. And did I mention that I really hate food in general? So its a challenge. Last night, I went to bed a little later, woke up at 4am, and had some handfuls of cheerios and plenty of water. Then this morning I had some more before I got out of bed. And it helped! I feel so much better this morning its amazing! I still feel queasy but I can move around, even climb the stairs!

Hooray for cheerios.

A Healthy Baby with a Beating Heart!!

One! NOT two, which as exciting as that might be, is a major relief. Much less stress. It's just a little bean right now, almost a centimeter, about the size of my pinky nail. The doctor said that the heartbeat is normal, implantation is normal, and everything is looking really healthy. He said chances of miscarraige at this point are down to about 10%.

I am pretty much flat on my back all day long. My go-to saviors at this point are peppermints between meals and cheerios if I can't manage food but need to eat. The doctor says my due date is September 10th. We are so excited!

Morning Sickness Sucks... but its TOTALLY worth it!

6 weeks today and feeling sick, which is a great, great sign. Breast tenderness, major fatigue and trouble sleeping are all a bunch of fun! We are super excited and have our first appointment on Wednesday. We aren't telling the big wide world until February, but I thought since at least we made it past the time frame when we lost our first pregnancy, and I'm feeling so terrible (which is awesome), I should share it with you guys. Love you all and we are so excited. If we go to term our due date will be Sept 12th. Yay!

VEGAS!!!

Vegas was so much fun! It was my first time there and I was loving all the sights. New York New York and Paris, and the Bellagio... the Luxor! Just so many interesting buildings and designs! And I still can't believe the electric bills these places must pay... insane. We had a great view from our room at the Mirage, and were gaping out the window for the first hour!

We immediately went for a walk down the strip, stopping first to see the volcano show outside our hotel, then on to the water fountains at the Bellagio... (and I got to drool in the windows of Chanel and Dior... yum...) and we had drinks in our room and enjoyed the scenery.

The next day we went to see the Secret Garden at the Mirage, which is basically a dolphin area and a garden with tigers and lions. There were underwater tanks where we could get really               close to the dolphins, it was amazing. They also had some white tiger cubs that were adorable, about six months old.

That night we went out to a nice romantic dinner together downstairs at Kokomo's and just enjoyed our quiet, married version of a Vegas vacation. I was really close to the end of my cycle, and as the weekend wore on, I could no longer kick back wine and cocktails with Scott... but we still had fun!

The next day, Scott did some golfing and I relaxed and watched trash television. Wow, the depths I will sink to when no one is around and I have nothing else to do and limited channels, hahaha! When he came home we had a quick dinner and got fancy for my surprise show. It turned out he was taking me to the Beatles "Love" Cirque de Soleil! It was incredible! A great mix of hits and obscure songs, beautiful, beautiful costumes and props, and incredible acrobatics and dancing. My jaw was on the floor when the beautiful ladies hanging from ropes began to climb them using their toes... I can't even conceive of that...

The next day we headed home happy and had a very smooth drive and a wonderful time together. YAY VEGAS!

Holidays with the Schmalbachs

Well the holidays were great all around! Steph, Scott and I stayed in and had movie marathons and such all through Christmas Eve, had some great home cooking and opened presents together on Christmas morning. I helped Steph sew her own stocking that matched ours, so that for Christmases to come she will have her own. We went for cocktails to a family friends and saw the Schmalbachs also.
We then headed up to the Bay Area to see Scott's family, have a Christmas party with them and then we saw the Puccinelli's for a bit. Zach has gotten so big already! After that, we came home for a day and then headed down to San Diego to stay with the Schmalbachs. We had a great time as usual! Shopping and eating and playing with Sydney. We played the game "Things" to keep us up on New Year's Eve and were all laughing 'til we cried!
The next morning, Sydney spent a lot of effort trying to get "Scott Thomas" out of bed, it was so cute! She had all her stuffed animals on the bed and was rolling around, climbing on him and talking to him. They had become great friends this trip.

From there, we drove out to Vegas!
