It's A Boy!..... probably

Ok we just got back from the doctor's office and he said 85% it's a boy! Which means Benjamin Philip is on his way! Its still sinking in for me, and Scott hasn't even accepted that its an actual baby yet, so he will need some time to catch up. I think its going to really shock him when we go to the hospital and leave with a person!

So we couldn't really get a profile pic with the way he was laying on his side, but here is a little wave :). That is the top of his head on the right, his little hand right by his face, and maybe a foot over there on the left... and the second picture may have caught his little nose.  The top grey section is the placenta. Dr. Safarik says he looks healthy and everything is going as it should. Send in some love for little Ben!

16 Weeks

Eating: Kind of weird. I don't feel hungry all the time, and I can't think of what I want before I have it in front of me. Hate chicken breast, but love it chopped up in something else (like the wonderful chicken salad Bond made me tonight). Its a love/hate relationship with food that is leaning toward hate right now. The only thing I can think of that I crave is avocados! Which is the size they said my baby is this week haha! The power of suggestion...
Morning Sickness: Much better. I don't think I threw up this week. That was last week, when Elizabeth was here. And the nausea is much better in the morning.
Energy: Well, I think we are headed up. But last Monday I fell asleep like three times during the day and slept right through my Al-Anon meeting! Oops. So, I get tired. But I am getting in some days where I go for hours and keep it up.
Weight: Gained a pound! 131.8
Belly: I feel like it was so huge the day of these pictures and then went down a little bit. Definitely can't suck it in anymore, and it doesn't flatten out all the way when I am on my back. So it is official! I love how round its getting. Yay! Looking less fat and more pregnant!
Things I Did: Okay, well as I am writing this blog I am feeling really happy and upbeat. But I did spend the day with an itty bitty brand new baby, Felicia! Ooo she is so beautiful. Nothing like staring at a tiny little curled up person and listening to their little sounds. That really made my whole week! Plus her mommy Sarah's wonderful company is super high quality. It can make up for a cluster of frustrations.

My downer is the rush of hormones I have been getting lately! Once I get into a mood, its hard to get myself out of it, even though I can hear my mind thinking ridiculous thoughts and I know they're ridiculous, it takes me a great deal longer to calm down and distract myself than usual.

I'm starting to love being pregnant. The heartburn went away, and was replaced by hip and pelvis pain. I have been having some cramping, but I think its ligaments stretching. I mean, look at me! Those ligaments are stretching, for sure. I have an appointment on Tuesday with my OB and we are going to try and see the gender. I can't wait. Its so soon and it feels like forever. Plus I am afraid of getting my hopes up and then the baby won't cooperate or something. But really, really excited to know the gender!!

15 Weeks

So my baby is the size of an apple! It's so strange to think about it kicking and moving. One website said that I could be feeling movements as early as next week! What?!

Eating: Not a great appetite, but I think I am eating better. This week I had a first trimester flashback- got so hungry I woke up at 4am with hunger pains and had to eat some cheerios! And they were stale! Ugh! I just tried really hard not to think about it. I got some water and tried to think about something else so I wouldn't throw up. However, I was laying there awake for about an hour for no good reason at all. Yay.
Morning Sickness: More good days than bad. But still not great. It could hit at any time, in any place and I just have to lay down asap and try to breathe evenly.
Energy: Much better. Not great, but I have had quite a few days where I was out and about for a full day. Huge improvement in my book. I love being outside!!
Weight: 130 still, I gained a couple ounces.
Belly: Just hangin there. Sometimes I will lay in bed and it will fall flat between my hips. Other times it will look super round and big. Magic belly.
Things I Did: I spent last Sunday at the Cliffs listening to music with the girls. We brought a blanket and sat in the perfect sunny weather, looking out at the ocean. They served food and drinks (none for me of course) and we just hung out for about 3 hours. I went grocery shopping, which is a big accomplishment. Today I had coffee with Steph, we walked to lunch, and giggled and chatted all day. We are brainstorming what she wants the baby to call her. She doesn't like "Aunt" or "Auntie", even though she's proud to be the only one. Coming up with ideas was kind of hysterical.

And welcome to heartburn! Poor Kelly she had it so bad when she was pregnant with Zach, it is insane! Like someone has installed a blow torch in my chest, aimed at my throat, and is turning it on and off at random times. I feel like a fire breathing dragon! Plus my ears were swimming in fluid all day today and I read in my weekly update that its really common to feel congested at this point. I am textbook pregnant. This baby wants to hit all the marks I guess.

14 Weeks

Eating: Pretty often, my appetite is coming back, which is great. Craving eggo waffles.
Morning Sickness: Much better, no vomitting this week. A little bit of random nausea, but not too bad.
Energy: Still low, but the last two days its been coming back. I'm sure Scott is relieved!
Weight: Oh, I forgot to weigh myself... here goes...hey 130! Looks like its starting to stay on me!
Belly: Pretty small still, I wore regular stretchy pants last Sunday (buttoned and everything!) and covered it pretty well. But if I wear maternity pants its a lot more obvious.
Things I Did: I went out to celebrate Juliette's 30th birthday! That was nice. I was still pretty sick and paid for it a bit the next day but it was nice to be out. I finally started feeling better yesterday, its amazing. I really hope it lasts!

So many pregnant women around, its great! Sarah is due to deliver any minute, Juliette is due 5 weeks ahead of me, Heather is due 1 week ahead of me, and I have two friends who so far are due right after. Craziness! Its nice to have the company.

13 Weeks

Eating: Not often, maybe like 2-3 hrs, but I can't fit a lot in my stomach without feeling sick. So its in little spurts. No serious aversions besides meat steaks and chicken breast.
Morning Sickness: Better. Another spontaneous act of vomitting again this week, but other than that I don't feel any nausea.
Energy: Low.
Weight: 127lbs (no change)
Belly: No change. I am loving my maternity clothes and my sweats.
Things I Did:  Well, I am still sick, so I have spent a lot of time in bed. Steph and I went out to breakfast once and I got blueberry pancakes! I haven't had those in years! Tonight we had dinner with some good friends, Jeff and Kristen, that was a big deal. I haven't been "out" in so long. It was just nice to be out of the house. Scott is being so wonderful. I have been coughing non stop and he has been doing everything he can to keep me comfortable. I feel very well taken care of.

12 Week Ultrasound

I have had a cold all weekend and so my energy level has been very low. I asked the doctor about my blood type, if I was anemic, and he gave me the results of my blood test (all normal) and he even checked my thyroid. So its great to know all is well.

We didn't get any model shots, thats for sure. The baby was squirming like crazy! It was amazing to see the baby kicking and rolling around. The last time we got a peek, we only saw a little bean! I could see the legs and arms and everything, but Scott had a little trouble figuring out what was what. It was truly incredible to see a baby in there. It took my breath away.
